People often ask me, "What products do YOU use??" since I have pretty good skin. It's clear, even-toned and smooth. But trust me, it took some WORK getting here!
I'll let you in on a little secret about me. Growing up, I always wanted to be the girl in the Noxema commercials. You know the one with the absolutely GLOWING skin. She would splash the water on her her face and flash a megawatt smile - just gorgeous.
As a result, I became an extremely loyal customer of Noxema. Now, Noxema is not for everyone. In fact, its not great for most people, but I loved it. The smell (yes, I'm weird), the texture of the cream, and the cooling, "clean" sensation that it left on my skin after I rinsed my face. I even put on a little afterwards as moisturizer. When I got a pimple, I put some Noxema on it and went to bed. When I woke in the morning, it would be barely noticeable. After another night treatment, it would vanish. Yes, Noxema was my "everything in a jar".
Then one day at skin care school, we were instructed to walk others through our morning facial cleansing routine. All of the other students came in with tons of little bottles, all of which smelled like lavender, rose, or eucalyptus. Me? I had a jar of Noxema, a tub of St. Ives Scrub (for special occasions), and body lotion. Clearly, I had a lot to learn.
That was some time ago. Back then, my skin was far more resilient and could withstand anything - even walnut shell exfoliation ala St. Ives. Now, I have to pay more attention to my skin and treat it more gently.
Here's a list of the products I use everyday. Keep in mind, I have textbook normal skin.
Arbonne RE9 Cleansing Gelee - $39: The best all-season cleanser. Effectively removes make-up and smells citrusy. Leaves your skin soft but also feeling "clean". Also contains no mineral oils, chemical dyes, artificial fragrance, or animal-by products.
Arbonne RE9 Day/Night Serum - $49: Another great product from Arbonne. This is a MUST for me. I can switch any product but not this one. Contains hyaluronic acid as well as alpha hydroxy acids. This product is great because over time, it slowly exfoliates your skin daily which leaves you with absolutely glowing skin. It is my secret face weapon. Just fantastic.
Yttrium by Alchimie Forever - $65: This also a great all-season product. The secret ingredients here are blueberries and jojoba. Very moisturizing but not heavy at all. When you apply this moisturizer, your skin "drinks" it in. It feels like I'm giving my skin a glass of water each morning. My skin loves this stuff. Great make-up base as well.
Pineapple-Papaya Facial Scrub by Kiehls - $25: I am a huge fan of Papain, the natural enzyme produced by papayas. This product combines both manual (scrub) and enzyme exfoliants for double-duty action. Leave it on for 5 minutes for a great mask. Just fab!
These are my core products. Personally, I don't use eye cream or a different moisturizer at night on a regular basis. But I do have some recommendations for those that I'll post later.
Glow on, girl!
