The sites states "Discover the first FDA-cleared laser that delivers laser hair removal in the privacy, comfort and convenience of your own home" and all I can think is "Ouch...!" As an esthetician, I have first-hand experience correcting many of the mistakes of "at home hair removal" made by my clients - home wax kits, Epilady, depilatory creams, and the list goes on.
Now, TRIA Beauty introduces the TRIA Personal Laser Hair Removal System - the first hand-held laser for at-home hair removal cleared by the FDA and available for sale directly to consumers in the US market. As with most lasers, those with dark skin should proceed with caution. Lasers typically seek dark hair on light skin and often emit too much light on dark skin which can result in burning and/or scarring.
Well the folks over at Allure have named this gadget as a Beauty Breakthrough for 2008. The TRIA Laser is currently sold in the US at Bergdorf Goodman, STUDIO at Fred Segal, Bliss Spas, select physician offices and at www.triabeauty.com.
If anyone, tries it - leave a comment. I'm curious about the results. No word on how this at-home treatment compares to costly in-spa treatments.
My wife has been wanting to get laser hair removal. She's looking at different options for getting rid of her hair. I will have to tell her about this product.

facts about Brazilian wax (not many people know about)!
#1- Sex is totally better after a wax! Don’t believe? Well if you don’t, that’s just because others are too polite to mention it to you.
#2- Brazilian wax isn’t THAT painful. We have seen more than a thousand customers of all ages, race and gender do it. None of them have complained of any pain. If they can deal with it, so can you.
#3- Shaving isn’t a better solution. Sure, shaving may be convenient, but a wax would guarantee less ingrown hair and stubbles. A wax also causes your hair to grow out less quicker!
#4- It actually feels better naked! The feeling of freshness and smoothness is definitely something all hairless people feel when they are naked. If you aren’t on the bandwagon yet, it is really time to hop on.

Doing laser removal at home can present very appealing benefits, including convenience and privacy. But when you look at it holistically, this procedure also entails significant risks. That is why you have to eliminate all the risks involved, if you decide to take this treatment. You should only consider products approved by the FDA. These products have undergone rigid product testing and qualification, so you can be sure that they are safe and fail-proof.

I tried the laser hair removal in the clinic. It's not painful. In fact I didn't feel anything. It's certainly more painless than waxing, albeit a little bit expensive. But laser hair removal is reasonably priced and it's a good option. Maybe I should also try this home laser hair removal, it gives me the option of doing it with privacy.
